The Boston Celtics recently paid a heartfelt tribute to Heather Walker, a beloved executive who lost her battle with cancer earlier this year, per reporting from The Athletic’s Jared Weiss. The team unveiled the Heather Walker Media Center at the Auerbach Center, the ball club’s practice facility in Brighton, MA. Walker served as the senior vice president of public relations for many years.
She was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma in July of 2021, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. Despite the grim diagnosis, she exhibited remarkable strength and resilience. Following her diagnosis, Walker initiated the “Move 4 Heather” fundraising campaign, which has successfully raised over $700,000 for glioblastoma research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
The Celtics’ tribute reflects the considerable impact Walker had on the team, its players, staff, front office executives, and of course, the media who will have their workspace named for her.
The media room at the Auerbach Center has been named the Heather Walker Media Center, after the unforgettable PR Director who we all miss dearly.
One of the best people you would ever come across, she had a passion for shining a light on the important things in life. pic.twitter.com/MzjARDWkHe
