By now it is far from a secret that the Boston Celtics are as frustrated with their start to the 2021-22 NBA season, with Jayson Tatum taking his frustrations out on the referees and Marcus Smart in public on his teammates.
That particular eruption of angst led to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reporting mid-game against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday that the team had had an early-season “players only” meeting to sort out the spillover of emotions the team’s poor start had elicited in a very visible fashion. After the win against the Magic, All-Star forward Jaylen Brown offered his thoughts on Smart’s comments and the situation with the team more generally.
“Obviously, in the midst of trying to win games, (it was) something that we probably didn’t need,” he explained.
