First off, let’s talk about how Bonnie Raitt is an absolute legend. If you haven’t listened to her self-titled album from 1971 or her 1989 Grammy-winning Album of the Year Nick of Time, you should.
But in 2023, with her going up against names like Lizzo, Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Beyonce, Adele and others in the Song of the Year category, Raitt probably didn’t think her chances were good with her tune, Just Like That.
But then, First Lady Jill Biden announced her song, and Raitt’s jaw dropped. The room was silent for a few seconds — maybe because Biden didn’t announce Raitt’s name at first — before applauding.
