Bobby Wagner comments on Seahawks’ situation after Week 9 loss

Here’s what Bobby Wagner had to say after Seattle’s ugly road loss to Baltimore

The Seattle Seahawks got humiliated by the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, losing 37-3 on the road. While this loss was a reality check, Seattle is still in relatively good position as they head into their Week 10 matchup with the Washington Commanders.

Bobby Wagner understands this team is still in a decent spot, but he isn’t satisfied with the results and says that they have to make changes. Here’s what he had to say afterwards.

It’s difficult to blame any one party too much for such a complete failure, but Geno Smith’s two turnovers and the offensive line’s total inability to protect him should probably be at the top of the list.

As for Wagner’s side of the ball, this was one of the worst run defense performances in team history. The Ravens racked up 298 yards on the ground, averaging 7.3 yards per carry as a team. Keaton Mitchell, Lamar Jackson and Gus Edwards all accounted for massive 20+ yard runs along the way.

Looking ahead, the Seahawks may not play a better team this season – certainly not one that runs as well as Baltimore. It’s also pretty difficult to replicate what they can do on the ground, so it’s unlikely we’ll see another gashing on the ground like this in 2023. That said, the run defense was a little off the previous week against the Cleveland Browns as well, so this is something we’ll be monitoring going forward. Wagner and the rest of the front seven had done a magnificent job against the run up until now.
