When it was announced Bo Nix was going to come back to Eugene in 2023 and play one more season for the Oregon Ducks, it didn’t take long for fans and media members to start conjuring his case for the Heisman Trophy.
Of course, before a late-season injury in 2022, Nix was in the thick of the Heisman race, posting some of the best stats in the nation through the first 11 weeks of the season. Now, with another year in the system, and hopefully an entirely healthy campaign, there’s no reason Nix shouldn’t again be in contention to make it to New York for the ceremony in December, right?
According to the oddsmakers at FanDuel, there is growing doubt about that. Where Nix once had the third-best odds in the nation in the spring to win the prestigious award, his odds have worsened.
The reasoning? It’s beyond me. However, if you are prone to place a wager from time to time, and you are interested in allocating some capital on No. 10 in Eugene, now might be the time.
