If you were to miss the weekend of college football action that just took place, and just went based on the Heisman Trophy betting odds that came out this week, you would assume that Bo Nix and the Oregon Ducks got blown out and that the Ducks’ QB threw for three first-half interceptions.
Oh wait, that happened to Caleb Williams and the USC Trojans, not Nix and the Ducks.
In a 36-33 loss to the Washington Huskies on Saturday afternoon, Nix couldn’t ultimately do enough to get the job done and finish the game. That’s a harsh view of things, considering the Oregon QB completed 33 of 44 passes for 337 yards and 2 TDs with no interceptions, but the fact that he couldn’t convert three 4th-down conversions, each of which could have completely turned the game, is what hurt him the most.
In turn, Nix saw his odds in the season-long race for the Heisman Trophy plummet this week, despite his entirely solid performance. Meanwhile, Washington Huskies’ QB Michael Penix is now the overwhelming favorite to win the award.
Here’s where the latest odds stand after Week 7 according to FanDuel.
