Bo Nix and Oregon Ducks to be featured in Fanatics and Topps trading card deal

College trading cards are coming to market, with current and former players being featured. Bo Nix is reportedly the first Duck to become a collectible.

Two of the biggest storylines to hit the world of sports over the past couple of years have been the resurgence of trading cards, and the introduction of name, image, and likeness in college sports.

Those two things are now forming a partnership.

On Thursday, Fanatics Collectibles and Topps announced a new “broad-scale college physical and digital trading cards deals with more than 100 of the top universities nationwide.”

The trading cards will reportedly use university trademarks and feature current and former players. The Oregon Ducks were one of the 35 schools that were announced on Thursday, with quarterback Bo Nix being highlighted as one of the players that will be featured.

The multi-year deal is said to combine trading cards with NIL rights for players, and deals are set to take effect between 2023 and 2025, according to the release.

A few of the other players who were announced to be involved are as follows:

  • 2021 Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young (Alabama)
  • 2021 Nationa Champion QB Stetson Bennett (Georgia)
  • QB Caleb Williams (USC)
  • MBB freshman Dereck Lively II (Duke)
  • MBB freshman Nick Smith Jr. (Arkansas)
  • NCAAW 2021 National Champion Aliyah Boston (South Carolina)

These trading cards will be released under Topps’ BowmanU brand starting this fall.
