Blue Devils remain in firm pursuit of one five-star guard in the Class of 2026

According to a Thursday report, the Duke basketball coaching staff is paying a lot of attention to 2026 five-star Jordan Smith Jr.

Duke basketball coach Jon Scheyer landed 2025 prospects Cameron and Cayden Boozer, two of the top 25 players in their year, just last week, and his yet staff remains active around the country.

According to a Thursday report from HS Top Recruits on X (the social media platform formerly known as Twitter), Duke associate head coach Chris Carrawell visited five-star 2026 guard Jordan Smith Jr. on Wednesday.

The report also mentioned a member of the Louisville coaching staff visiting Smith as well, and Smith told HS Top Recruits that the Blue Devils and Cardinals are among the most active staffs in his recruiting process. The Arkansas Razorbacks, Syracuse Orange, and Georgetown Hoyas were also listed.

Smith, who plays for Paul VI Catholic High School in Virginia, is the eighth-ranked player in 247Sports’ Class of 2026 rankings and a top-three shooting guard in his class. Two of his former teammates, guard Darren Harris and center Pat Ngongba II, both committed to Duke as part of the 2024 recruiting class.

Scheyer himself visited Smith just last month, emphasizing how much of a focus he is for Duke moving forward.
