The Baltimore Ravens have gotten seen many good things from unexpected contributors over the course of the 2021 season. Some of those players have had true breakout seasons, while others have already established themselves at one point or another during their NFL career, but have looked rejuvenated in 2021.
Maurice Moten of Bleacher Report listed out one player on each NFL team that could break out before the 2021 season ends. For the Ravens, Moten picked explosive rookie wide receiver Rashod Batmean. When explaining his choice, Moten talked about his knack for finding the first down marker, as well as his already commanding share of the passing offense.
“In all four of his appearances, Bateman commanded at least six targets. He’s caught 18 passes for 241 yards. Though the rookie first-rounder hasn’t reached the end zone, 15 of his receptions have resulted in first downs. Quarterback Lamar Jackson can depend on him to move the chains in crucial moments.”
Moten also mentioned Bateman’s percentage of snaps over the course of his first four games, which might be higher than some expected heading into the year.
“Bateman has played at least 55 percent of the offensive snaps in each of his games, so he should maintain a steady role with wide receiver Sammy Watkins back from a hamstring injury.”
Bateman has earned every one of his snaps moving forward with great play, even though he missed the first five games of his rookie season. He’s displayed great hands, route running, and his connection with quarterback Lamar Jackson is growing by the day. As the 2021 season progresses, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Bateman continue to impress, and even have somewhat of a mini-breakout season before the year concludes.
