Bleacher Report names Jets as team that should look into Derrick Henry trade

The Jets’ offense seems fairly set on paper. They have their quarterback in Aaron Rodgers and look quite strong at wide receiver with Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard, Mecole Hardman, Corey Davis and Randall Cobb.

The offensive line should be healthier and, hopefully for the Jets’ sake, better than it was in 2022. Even tight end seems interesting.

The running back position is certainly very intriguing for the Jets. The current group is Breece Hall, Michael Carter, Zonovan Knight and rookie Israel Abanikanda. That seems pretty set. But according to Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report, there’s another name out there that should pique the Jets’ interest. That name is Titans running back Derrick Henry.

Now, there hasn’t been any traction that the Titans will actually trade Henry, but Gagnon believes the Titans should look into trading their 29-year-old running back with the outlook of the team very much up in the air with Ryan Tannehill 34 years old and on the clear downswing. It was also believed that Tennessee tried to trade up for Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud before the Houston Texans selected him at No. 2. Tennessee then traded up in round two for Kentucky’s Will Levis.

Gagnon named three teams as potential teams that should look into a trade for Henry. The Jets were one of those teams along with the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals.

This would be one way to make Aaron Rodgers happy, and this was a bottom-eight rushing game in terms of DVOA in 2022 that could use an upgrade over Breece Hall (who is coming off a torn ACL) and Michael Carter (who averaged just 3.5 yards per carry last year).

The Jets probably seem content with their current running back room, but anything is possible in the NFL.
