Former Tennessee pitcher Blade Tidwell is playing with the St. Lucie Mets.
St. Lucie competes in the Florida State League and is a Single-A affiliate of the New York Mets.
Tidwell was selected by New York in the second round (No. 52 overall) of the 2022 MLB draft.
The 6-foot-4, 207-pound Tidwell (3-2) appeared in 13 games for the Vols in 2022. He recorded 51 strikeouts and a 3.00 ERA during the 2022 campaign.
Tidwell started for St. Lucie in game No. 1 of the FSL East Division championship series. The Mets defeated Palm Beach, 6-1.
St. Lucie defeated Palm Beach, 3-2, Thursday, winning the best-of-three series, 2-0.
Tidwell and St. Lucie will play the winner of Friday’s game between the Dunedin Blue Jays and the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels. The FSL West Division championship series is tied, 1-1.
