Billy Napier a ‘loser’ at 2023 SEC media days on Wednesday

Billy Napier among the losers from Wednesday’s SEC Media Days.

The Southeastern Conference’s media days continued on Wednesday in Nashville, Tennessee, with the Alabama Crimson Tide, Arkansas Razorbacks, Florida Gators and Kentucky Wildcats taking the podium on the third day of the festivities.

The Grand Hyatt Hotel is hosting the 2023 event, which runs from Monday through Thursday. There have been plenty of eyebrow-raising moments already as media members prepare for the start of the 2023 SEC season, which begins Aug. 26 when Hawaii plays at Vanderbilt.

Stefan Krajisnik of the Mississippi Clarion Ledger wrote up his takes on Wednesday night following Day 3 of the event in his winners and losers column. Among the entries was one for Florida’s [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag], who he tapped as a “loser” from the penultimate day.

For as thrilling as (Akansas head coach Sam) Pittman was on stage, Napier was the opposite. From his prolonged opening statement to the coach-speak-filled answers, there was little enthusiasm or humor from Napier.

It’s representative of the energy surrounding the Gators heading into his second year at the helm. Florida went 6-7 last season and has its win total at 5.5, according to DraftKings.

The 2023 SEC media days wrap up on Thursday starting at 10:05 a.m. EDT with the Ole Miss Rebels, South Carolina Gamecocks and Tennessee Volunteers putting the finishing touches on the week. The event is being televised on the SEC Network.
