The debate over the strongest arm in the NFL rages on.
Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen recently appeared on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football. Allen first challenged Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes to a throw-off on Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take podcast and Mahomes responded on Twitter, accepting the challenge. Now we’re talking about a potential throwing contest between the two quarterbacks again.
Allen is still up for making the throw-off happen. He wants to settle the score with Mahomes once and for all and determine who can hurl the pigskin farther. Apparently, something was in the works between the two quarterbacks, but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed that from happening.
“One — yes, I’m game,” Allen began. “We’re working on it. We had something in place actually, supposed to be going this summer, but obviously, some COVID restrictions had that kind of shut down. But yes, I’m game.”
Allen then tried buttering up his opponent, praising him for his arm strength and overall ability.
“I think Pat’s got obviously one of the strongest arms in the league,” Allen said of Mahomes. “He’s, if not, the best quarterback in the league right now. Just the things that he can do on the football field, it’s pretty unbelievable to watch. Congrats to him and what he’s been able to accomplish there. I’m a big fan of his, his game and his playstyle.”
When the throw-off does happen between these two players, it’ll be for a good cause.
“I’d love to finally settle this and figure it out, but we’ll have to make sure, whatever the case may be, it’s going to a good cause and make sure that there is some charity involved,” Allen added. “I know he’s got his 15 and the Mahomies charity and foundation. So we’ll figure out a way where we can do this for sure.”
Before the throw-off goes down, Mahomes and Allen will settle a different grudge. The Chiefs travel to Buffalo, to face the Bills on “Thursday Night Football” in Week 6 of the 2020 season. It’ll be the first time the two quarterbacks have met on the gridiron during the course of their young careers.
