New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick was in rare form at Wednesday’s media conference.
After every game, regardless of wins or losses, Belichick always makes it a point to shift focus to the next team on the schedule. He’ll answer post-game questions, but after that, he’s ready to flip the page.
That’s where the coined phrase, “It’s on to Cincinnati” originated from.
How fitting it is that the Patriots are facing the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday, and people are still asking Belichick about the lateral passing blunder that cost the team in last week’s loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
When asked what he’s seen from his players since the loss, Belichick dodged the question with a pretty hilarious response.
“They came in, ate breakfast (today). Saw them eat breakfast,” the Patriots coach said.
He was then asked if the spread was good, and he continued to play along with the question.
“Damn right,” Belichick said.
What has Belichick seen from the players since the Las Vegas loss?
Belichick: “They came in, ate breakfast (today). Saw them eat breakfast.
Good spread?
“Damn right.”

Some might not find Belichick’s responses funny considering the Patriots might have blown their shot at making it to the playoffs with the loss. It has been a rough season filled with bad football and questionable coaching decisions.
New England looks undisciplined, unfocused and just plain unreliable this season. The Patriot Way means a lot of different things to different people, but what we’ve seen from the team this year certainly isn’t it.
