The New England Patriots are among the NFL teams who have not disclosed their vaccination numbers ahead of the 2021 season. Bill Belichick did not provide much in the way of information during his press conference on Tuesday, the day before training camp commenced.
He was asked what percentage of his players were vaccinated.
“I don’t know. Quite a few of them. Most of them, probably,” Belichick said in a videoconference call on Tuesday. “But whatever the protocols are, we’ll follow them. Those are individual decisions. There are categories for everybody, so wherever they fit, they fit.”
The NFL has introduced rules which could result in forfeiture for the team and loss of pay for players if there’s an outbreak among unvaccinated players. Belichick was asked whether those rules led to increased vaccination efforts on the team, but the coach said he didn’t know.
