The month of January is finally here as the calendar has flipped to 2025 and with that, a new era of North Carolina Tar Heels’ football is here under Bill Belichick.
The head coach is wasting no time making an impact with his new program, earning some big recruits for his first class in the transfer portal. But as we move forward, the month of January will be an important one for Belichick and his staff as he noted on a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show:
“The whole month of January is a big recruiting month,” Belichick said Monday on The Pat McAfee Show via Inside Carolina. “We are definitely recruiting. There are a lot of guys in the portal. There are a lot of people contacting us. They want to come to Carolina. My Instagram account has been busy. I’ve been scrolling through that. I never thought I’d say that, but here I am. I’m joining the 21st century. We have big weekends coming up. We got a lot of guys coming in to visit. It’s been fun. I’ve really enjoyed it. We’ll just take them as they come. … We are already working on the 2026 high school class. There’s still some portal that will be left over. We’ll start the offseason program with the players that we have and get things to roll there. It’s a big month for us.”
While the Tar Heels have landed some commitments already, the work is not done for them. They have plenty of room to add more and they likely will.
But as Belichick notes above, it’s not just the 2025 class that they will go after. They will also look to start building on the 2026 class which will be Belichick’s first true class in charge.
Buckle up, it sounds like it’s going to be an exciting and busy month for UNC fans.
