Bill Belichick meets with former UNC football commit

Bill Belichick is hoping to land a commitment from this former UNC commit.

When the North Carolina Tar Heels decided to part ways with Mack Brown, they saw a few recruits decommit and look elsewhere for an opportunity.

But now with Bill Belichick as head coach, there’s a chance some could come back including a key four-star edge rusher.  North Carolina native Zavion Griffin-Haynes decommitted from UNC a few months back and reopened his recruitment, drawing interest from several programs. On Monday, he confirmed interest from the Tar Heels.

Griffin-Haynes took to social media to post a photo of himself and Belichick as the head coach went to visit him.  He also spoke to Rivals about the visit from the legendary head coach.

Here is what Griffin-Haynes told Sam Spiegelman of Rivals:

“He was telling me stuff coaches never told me,” Griffin-Haynes said. “Showing me stuff about my game, and just telling me stuff about the NFL and the program’s come up.”

Griffin-Haynes is a big recruit who should be a focus once again for the Tar Heels even after losing him. The 6-foot-6, 220-pound edge rusher is ranked No. 161 nationally, No. 12 edge rusher and No. 9 player in the state of North Carolina per the 247Sports composite rankings.

In addition to North Carolina, Griffin-Haynes is drawing interest from Florida State and Notre Dame, two programs that he has visits scheduled for this offseason.
