Everyone has an opinion on Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix, including former NFL coach Bill Belichick.
Appearing on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Monday, Belichick said Broncos coach Sean Payton will name Nix the starter when the QB is deemed ready. And once he does, Belichick said there’s no going back.
“Well, it looks like it,” Belichick said when asked by Pat McAfee if Nix is a perfect fit for Sean Payton’s offense. “Look, I think Sean’s done a good job with [Jarrett] Stidham, too. Sean’s a great quarterback coach and he’ll have those guys ready to play and he’ll tailor the offense around whoever the quarterback is.”
Belichick noted that Payton runs a fast offense that requires his quarterback to be a smart, fast decision-maker.
“If Bo can do it, then I think as soon as Sean’s comfortable with what Bo can do, he’ll ride it out with him.”
Belichick also noted that Payton won’t want to go three or four games with Nix and then realize he needs more time and switch back to Stidham, so Belichick cautioned against naming Nix the starter before he’s ready.
“If you’re sure Bo Nix is the guy, then you go with him, but you don’t turn back. You just stay with him all the way through.”

Payton was not ready to name a starter on Sunday night. We’ll see if he has an announcement to make when the Broncos return to practice Wednesday.
