Bill Belichick wasn’t in the mood for scrutiny about the New England Patriots’ game plan in a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 14.
Belichick fielded a question about his usage of James White, who became a big factor in the game (6 carries, 33 yards; 5 receptions, 27 yards; a 35-yard pass on a trick play) after New England increased his snaps over running back Sony Michel.
“We did what we thought was best,” Belichick said during a postgame press conference on Sunday night. “We didn’t start slow. We scored the first time we had the ball. I don’t know. I might have missed it. Yeah, look, you can second-guess all the play calls you want. That’s fine. That’s your job, go ahead and do it. That’s fine. We did what we thought’s best, that’s all we do.”
