On Sunday we found out that President Trump had plans to give a Presidential Medal of Freedom award to New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick later this week in Washington D.C.
Once that report came out many people, including myself, argued against Belichick accepting such an honor during what has been a very ugly time for our nation with much of that ugliness being fueled by the president.
Well, on Monday night Belichick released a statement in which he explained why he won’t be accepting the honor. He spoke about the tragic event from last week at the Capitol as well as how rewarding this past season was for he and his team as they had many important conversations about social justice, equality, and human rights.
