Bill Belichick discusses his involvement with the Washington Huskies

Bill Belichick made his first public comments on the Washington Huskies.

Bill Belichick’s involvement with the Washington Huskies is a big deal. What team wouldn’t want an eight-time Super Bowl champion coach who is No. 3 all-time in the NFL in career wins with 302 involved in their program?

While a lot of that stems from his son Steve’s role as Washington’s defensive coordinator, Jedd Fisch deserves a lot of credit for helping convince the future Hall of Fame coach to spend some time on Montlake.

On Monday, Belichick appeared on the Pat McAfee show and discussed his involvement with the Huskies for the first time.

“They do a great job here at this program,” the former New England Patriots head coach said. “It’s just fun to see what’s going on, sit in on some meetings, and watch the players work. It’s a good spot out here and a great environment.”

“Jedd’s got the whistle, I’m just here to watch, and sometimes they ask me to look at something or what I think about this or that. It’s really great to see these guys and Jedd’s got a great staff and is doing a great job with this program.”

At multiple practices, Belichick has been spotted pulling players from different positions aside after certain plays or drills to offer his two cents, and on Friday, was also assisting in some run-fit installations with Washington’s linebackers and safeties.

It’s unknown how long Belichick will be around during fall camp or how involved he’ll be once the season begins, but having arguably the greatest coach of all time around is a special occasion that the players and coaches seem to have learned a lot from, and fans should embrace while it lasts.
