The Oklahoma Sooners come off their sixth-straight Big 12 football championship in 2020. They have the fourth-most returning production and the third-most experienced head coach with their current team. Only Matt Campbell has been in his job longer with Iowa State by one season, and Mike Gundy who has been at Oklahoma State since 2005.
The biggest question according to ESPN heading into the offseason surrounds the postseason.

The Sooners finished the season playing as one of the hottest teams of the country, allowing 21 points or fewer in their last five games. The defense looks to have turned the corner under Alex Grinch, and quarterback Spencer Rattler returns with breakout star Marvin Mims Jr. and good players across the board. This might be the complete package Lincoln Riley has hoped to see since getting the keys to the Sooners’ machine. So, then, is this the team to break through and get his first win in the College Football Playoff? — Dave Wilson
Offensively this team is as loaded as they have been over the last several seasons. The biggest question surrounds the wide receivers group with Mims, Theo Wease, and company. Can they continue to grow and develop as they did down the stretch. The return of Kennedy Brooks is a boost to the running game as well as Eric Gray’s addition through the transfer portal. The offensive line will be a work in progress but they did bring in some experience.
On the defensive side, the Sooners return their top pass rushers in terms of production. Nik Bonitto was also ranked the top returning pass rusher by PFF. Add in Isaiah Thomas on the edge with Perion Winfrey and Laron Stokes inside and you have a good front four. Their biggest question will be replacing starters in the secondary. Overall this team should be in position to get that elusive playoff victory, the question remains can they pull it off?
