Bigger surprise: Los Angeles Lakers in 10th place in the West or the Boston Celtics atop the East?

Both would have been seen as fringe results even just a few months ago.

While they might not stay there for long with all the injuries the team has been dealing with in recent days, the Boston Celtics are improbably in the Eastern Conference’s first-place slot just weeks away from the end of the 2021-22 NBA season after falling to the East’s 11th-place slot earlier in the first half of the current campaign.

Conversely, while there were doubts over whether new addition to the Los Angeles Lakers Russell Westbrook would be a good fit for the Lake Show, only the haterest of haters would have told you at the beginning of the season that LA would be at risk of falling out of the play-in tournament and missing the postseason altogether.

What is a bigger surprise? That the Lakers are in 10th place in the West, or the Celtics first in the East?

ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins and Tim Legler debate this question on a recent episode of “First Take” — watch the clip embedded above and see if you agree with their takes.
