Although it was not the prettiest of battles, winning ugly sure beats losing in any fashion. Big X, a Big Ten alumni team, won ugly in their first round TBT matchup against D2, a squad made up of former NCAA Division II stars.
Big X came away with a 79-74 win after being down double digits for stretches of the first half. Former Michigan State big man Nick Ward was too much to handle for the smaller front court of D2, ultimately finishing with a team-high 18 points and five rebounds.

During the comeback effort in the second half, former Badgers Kahlil Iverson and Trevon Hughes came up massive. Iverson finished with seven points and a team-high 11 rebounds, while Hughes hit a pair of major threes down the stretch, including one during elam ending time.
Vitto Brown, Hughes, and Iverson live to see another day, and will face a Dayton alumni team in Red Scare on July 8.
