Big Ten releases policy for if a team is unable to play due to COVID-19

The Big Ten’s policy on COVID-19 cancelations for 2021:

The Big Ten has finally announced their plan for dealing with COVID-19 issues during a 2021 season where we hope to have far less disruptions than last year.

Their statement read that, “In collaboration and communication with the Big Ten Conference Athletic Directors, Chancellors and Presidents, the Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases, and the Sports Medicine Committee — effective today — the conference has determined that if one of its member institutions is unable to play a conference contest due to COVID-19, that contest shall be declared a forfeit and will not be rescheduled.”

If the contest is declared a forfeit, the team with COVID-19 issues would receive a loss while the other team would receive a win as normal.
