After a wild back-and-forth day, filled with twists, turns, different voices and a veritable ‘will they or won’t they?’ we now know when the Big Ten is likely to have a decision.
According to ESPN’s Mark Schlabach, his sources have indicated that the Big Ten presidents are set to meet on Tuesday morning, and it’s less of a vote to cancel as much as it is to either delay or postpone the 2020 football season.
A source told ESPN that the Big Ten presidents will meet at 10:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday, and a decision is expected to be made — whether it’s pushing back the season to Sept. 26, or postponing it until the spring, with the hopes the virus trends improve by then. The majority of Big Ten athletic directors aren’t ready to “pull the plug” on fall sports, a league source said.

Given the numerous reports which gathered steam over the weekend, with many saying that the decision was made and college football is done, for those hoping for a season, this sounds a lot more promising.
Not expecting any news tonight from #B1G, per sources. More meetings in the morning, sources say. In all my years covering Big Ten, can't remember a day when the league seemed more divided (presidents vs. coaches). Certainly could see presidents opting against a full postponement

Perhaps one of the key tenets in such a drastic shift from one direction to the next was the #WeWantToPlay movement, which started taking off with a graphic tweeted by Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence before gathering steam across all of college football. Not only players were involved, but coaches — like Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh — as well as multiple Wolverines parents.
Regardless, the paradigm has seemed to have shifted, and we’ll know on Tuesday what that means for the Big Ten and Michigan football in 2020.
