The UNC basketball program is hosting a big recruiting target on campus for an official visit on Monday.
Per Inside Carolina, four-star power forward [autotag]T.J. Power[/autotag] is on campus for an official visit just days after having an impressive showing at the Peach Jam in Georgia. Per the report, the forward and his family decided to drive from the event to UNC and take an official visit, allowing him to communicate with the staff while he is there.
On Sunday, his family drove to the Triangle area to visit with family. And on Monday, he’ll be on Carolina’s campus for an official visit, he confirmed to Inside Carolina. The visit will last just 24 hours. Because of NCAA rules, prospects are unable to take unofficial visits during July. However, rising seniors have until Aug. 1 to take their five junior year official visits.
Thus, Power and the UNC staff decided using an official visit was the best route to taking advantage of him being in North Carolina. Had Power not made Monday’s trip an official visit, he’d have been unable to communicate with the UNC staff or any athletic department personnel while on campus. He’ll do the same at Duke on Tuesday.
Power has caught the attention of UNC, receiving his offer this Summer. The UNC staff then watched him several times at the Peach Jam, where Power impressed throughout the week.
Since losing G.G. Jackson, Hubert Davis and his staff have started to show interest in other recruits including Power. The hope is to land at least one more big man to pair with five-star guard Simeon Wilcher.
