Big 12 Tournament: Iowa State vs. Texas Tech odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Iowa State vs. Texas Tech odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 6-seed Iowa State Cyclones (20-11) and No. 3 Texas Tech Red Raiders (23-8) meet in a Big 12 Tournament quarterfinal Thursday. The contest at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City is slated to tip off at 9:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Iowa State vs. Texas Tech odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Iowa State sports a below-average Big 12 offense, but the Cyclones are strong at the defensive end. That combination has made for some streaky play, at least in terms of the resulting wins and losses in a 7-11 Big 12 campaign. During that league slate, ISU went 1-1 against the Red Raiders.

Texas Tech also has a strong defense, but the Raiders add to that a solid offensive game, especially in and around the paint. Currently ranked No. 14 in the nation, the Raiders have held opposing teams to a 38.9% mark from the floor in going 8-3 since Jan. 29. TTU went 12-6 in league play.

Iowa State vs. Texas Tech odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas Tech 69, Iowa State 59

Money line

PASS. The profit here is looked up in the middle of these prices.

Against the spread

The Raiders lost their last game and are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games following a straight-up loss.

Texas Tech has much the better offense here. Their athletic length makes for a mismatch against the Cyclones.

In its Jan. 5 loss to ISU (51-47), TTU experienced an outlier 41.8% effective field goal mark. The Raiders were coming off a seven-day layoff after having coasted in a pair of holiday-week non-conference games.

The lean here is not a strong one, but it is one on the Raiders getting to a three-of-four-possession game. TAKE TEXAS TECH -8.5 (-107).

Over/Under

This total is the lowest of the three meetings this season. Perimeter shooting doesn’t figure to pile up triples in this contest, but some two-way turnover-transition ball can be expected and Texas Tech has the potential to go big in second-chance and free-throw points.

Again on a slight lean, TAKE THE OVER 125.5 (-108).
