What’s Missing From Each Team’s Recruiting Class
Baylor
Linebackers
It wasn’t a big position of emphasis in the 2020 class and it was a bit light in this one with just two linebackers signed. The idea under Dave Aranda is to find speed and turn those players into LBs, but it’ll have to be a focus in 2022.
Iowa State
Quarterbacks
The transfer portal now is the best way to get your quarterback for the moment and a few for depth, but there isn’t one needed for right now. Brock Purdy is back, and Aidan Bouman and Hunter Dekkers were in last year’s class, but the Cyclones didn’t grab another option.
Kansas
Defensive Tackles
The Jayhawks signed a few ends, but there isn’t anything for the interior. Only one was signed last year, and there isn’t anyone expected to come in through the transfer portal, but the big bulk has to be a part of the next few classes.
Kansas State
Running Backs
There isn’t anything coming from the transfer portal yet, but a few running backs were brought in last year and there’s already a good base of players to work around. In this offense, though, finding a star ball carrier – it would be nice to have a thumper – has to be a priority next year.
Oklahoma
Offensive Linemen
There are a few, and Savion Byrd might have been the best offensive line get in the Big 12, but it’s certainly not a big class of blockers. The 2020 class was big on options, and the 2022 one will have to be, too.
Oklahoma State
Defensive Tackles
There isn’t a whole lot happening for the defensive front with just two prospects coming in. More pass rushers have to be found through the transfer portal and in the next few recruiting classes, and more raw bulk for the interior is a must.
TCU
Offensive Linemen
There isn’t a whole lot. Noah Bolticoff will likely be the only one signed on, and that’s after signing four – not all that many in the scheme of things – in 2020 and three in 2019. Things are hardly dire, but with five offensive linemen in the transfer portal, building up the depth will be vital over the next few years.
Texas
Defensive Tackles
There isn’t a whole lot of bulk for the interior. There are a few ends, and Byron Murphy is a nice tackle signing, but that’s about it. This was a spray-to-all-fields class with a little of everything, but Steve Sarkisian has to find Texas-talents for the inside of his line over the next few years.
Texas Tech
Defensive Backs
It’s almost always a given that every recruiting class loads up on defensive backs, mainly because they add to the speed and can be potentially moved to receiver if needed. But Texas Tech didn’t do much of anything for the secondary.
West Virginia
Offensive Linemen
Just a few are coming in, but they’re good ones. It’s a smallish class for bulk without any sure thing defensive tackles and without the blockers for the other side, but the 2020 class with loaded with linemen.
