The Texas Longhorns football program is a national brand.
The silhouette Longhorns logo itself is one of the most recognizable images in all of sports. The Dallas Cowboys star, the New York Yankees ‘NY’, and Bevo are easily atop the rankings of well-known brands.
Despite the fact that the Longhorns are widely recognized, when it comes to recruiting, there are only a handful of states that have produced Texas players since 2000.
No state had more Texas signees than the Lone Star state in that timeframe, but it’s not much of a surprise for the state that produced a national championship-winning quarterback in Vince Young. During the most recent recruiting cycle, Texas signed the No. 1 athlete that also happened to hail from Texas in five-star prospect Ja’Tavion Sanders.
Other top states that the Longhorns typically recruit from include California, Arizona, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. However, their numbers pale in comparison to Texas. Each signee since 2000 is from one of 14 different states.
