KNOXVILLE — The first round of the Best Tennessee Team Playoff of the BCS-College Football Era has kicked off.
The second game of the playoff showcased the 2016 Vols against 2000 Tennessee.
2000 Tennessee defeated the 2016 Vols, 31-10, advancing to play 1998 UT in the quarterfinals.
The 2000 Vols scored 31 second-half points and were led by running back and player of the game Travis Henry. Henry totaled 152 yards and scored two touchdowns on 30 attempts.
Quarterback Casey Clausen finished the contest 16-of-28, 197 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
Josh Dobbs was 11-of-22, 171 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception for 2016 Tennessee. Dobbs was sacked six times by Eric Westmoreland (3), Will Overstreet (2) and DeAngelo Lloyd (1).
Jalen Hurd recorded 60 rushing yards on 20 attempts, while Alvin Kamara totaled ten yards on the ground for 2016 Tennessee.
Josh Malone scored the lone touchdown for the 2016 Vols in the first quarter.
Aaron Medley connected on a 47-yard field goal and missed on 45 and 30-yard attempts for 2016 UT.
