KNOXVILLE — The first round of the Best Tennessee Team Playoff of the BCS-College Football Playoff Era has kicked off at Neyland Stadium.

1998 Tennessee defeated the 2010 Vols, 45-18, advancing to play the winner of the 2016 UT-2000 UT first-round matchup.

Quarterback Tee Martin was the player of the game after an 11-of-19 performance, totaling 329 passing yards. Martin connected on three touchdowns and had two interceptions. He recorded a rushing score in the second quarter.

Wide receiver Peerless Price was on the other end of Martin’s completions, recording four receptions, 125 yards and scored two touchdowns. Jeremaine Copeland scored one touchdown through-the-air for 1998 Tennessee.

Travis Henry led the 1998 Vols on the ground with 117 rushing yards on 19 attempts. Henry scored one touchdown. Jamal Lewis also scored a rushing touchdown to go along with 79 yards on seven attempts.

Matt Simms was 19-of-35 and totaled 340 yards, two touchdowns and one interception for 2010 Tennessee. Gerald Jones led the 2010 Vols with five receptions for 140 yards. Tyler Bray finished 3-of-9 for 33 yards.

Dwayne Goodrich (1998), Prentiss Waggner (2010) and LaMarcus Thompson (2010) each had interceptions in the contest.

Al Wilson (2), Deon Grant (2) and Shaun Ellis recorded sacks for 1998 Tennessee.
