Texas A&M looked like a team that should be ranked in the top 25 in the country after downing the New Mexico Lobos on Saturday night. Many questions were answered after the clock struck triple zeros, from how the lines would hold up on both sides of the ball to how Bobby Petrino’s offense would look different than what we saw last season.
The offense put up over 400 total yards and 52 points is just scratching the surface and truly will be a top SEC offense by year’s end. However, it wasn’t pretty all game long for the Aggies. As dominant as the offense was, there is still some meat on the bone regarding the running game. The defense started off a little shaky, with the ghost of last year’s run defense early in the game. They eventually settled in to hold them under 100 yards running with a 2.8 average.
Texas A&M will travel to Florida in a week two match up against a Miami team with something out to prove. This will be a great benchmark game to see where the improvements need to be made before the start of SEC play.
