After a successful season that led to a trip to the second round of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, Penn State took a spin on the offseason coaching carousel in search of a replacement for Micah Shrewsberry. And that led Penn State to hire VCU head coach [autotag]Mike Rhoades[/autotag] to take over the program in hopes of continuing the success in Happy Valley.
Rhoades comes to Penn State with a career head coaching record of 176-113 with previous head coaching stints with Rice and VCU. At VCU, where he coached from 2017 through the 2022-23 season, Rhoades was 129-61 with a pair of A-10 championships (one regular season and one tournament) and three trips to the NCAA tournament.
