Michigan State football looked poised for a major upset in the first quarter, but things went south from the second quarter forward.

Indiana scored 47 consecutive points to beat Michigan State, 47-10, on Saturday.

Michigan State jumped out to a quick start and built a 10-0 advantage in the first quarter. However, Indiana dominated in the second quarter with three touchdown drives to carry a 21-10 lead into halftime.

Things didn’t get any better for the Spartans in the second half, with Indiana scoring the next 26 points to top the Spartans in convincing fashion. To make matters worse, Michigan State also lost starting quarterback Aidan Chiles to an injury in the third quarter.

With the loss, Michigan State drops to 4-5 overall and 2-4 in Big Ten play.

Michigan State football will be off next week on a bye and return to action in on November 16 at Illinois. The kickoff time for that game will be announced in the coming days.
