It wasn’t pretty (again), but Michigan State basketball was able to get the job done in its final non-conference game of the regular season.
The Spartans overcame a sloppy start and overall poor effort to earn an 80-62 victory over Western Michigan on Monday from the Breslin Center. Michigan State led throughout the second half, but never truly put away the Broncos until the final few minutes.
Michigan State was led in scoring by Jaden Akins (18 points) and Carson Cooper (13 points) in the win. Eleven different Spartans recorded points in the game.
Michigan State improves to 11-2 overall with the win over Western Michigan. The Spartans will return to conference play on Friday in a road game at Ohio State.
