Sunday saw two eras of women’s basketball lore finally clash in one of the most highly-anticipated matchups in the WNBA. Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever hit the road to take on Diana Taurasi and the Phoenix Mercury.
Clark and the Fever got the best of the matchup as they pulled out an 88-82 victory on the road to boost their record to 8-12 after a rough start to the season.
Caitlin Clark led the way with a near triple-double as she posted 15 points, 12 assists, and nine rebounds in the victory. She was helped by Aliyah Boston’s 17 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Taurasi also had herself quite the game with 19 points, three rebounds, and three assists.
Despite the stats and the victory, the best moment may have been Clark and Taurasi embracing pregame as the two teams were getting ready for tipoff. It signaled that Clark could be receiving more acceptance from the WNBA veterans after receiving some questionable treatment after being the No. 1 overall pick.
