Tory Taylor went out with both a literal and figurative boom in his final game inside Kinnick Stadium. As a punter for the Iowa Hawkeyes, he has put on a show his entire career. In his final home game, he may have given us his best effort yet.
Following Iowa’s Week 12 win over Illinois, Tory Taylor is recognized across the conference for his punting efforts. He has been named the Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week.
It’s the third time in Taylor’s career that he has garnered Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Against the Illini, Taylor punted eight times. He averaged a booming 51.6 yards per punt which constantly flipped field position and allowed Iowa’s defense to constantly be set up in a good position. In the process, Taylor also became Iowa’s school record holder for career punts with 274 in his career.
Taylor is going to be departing for the NFL after this season, but he is going out showing some of his best abilities yet. This year, the Aussie has punted 72 times for 48.2 yards per punt. He has a long of 62 yards and has landed 27 of these punts inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.
Taylor has three more chances to punt for the Hawkeyes and it should be appreciated. Punting is often taken for granted, but Taylor has truly been a game-changer for Iowa and his performances have been critical in winning games.
