Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons is progressing well in his rehab from a nerve impingement in his back that ended his 2022-23 season prematurely in March, according to Brian Lewis of the New York Post. According to Lewis, Lee communicated that Simmons is cleared to progress to the next stage of his rehab, which is only good news for all parties involved.
Simmons, who is trying to complete his rehab by the time the 2023 FIBA World Cup starts so that he can hopefully play for the Australian National Team, has been rehabbing ever since he was ruled out this past season. Due to a variety of injuries mostly related to his knees and back, Simmons played just 42 games despite having back surgery last season.
Lee has previously said that Simmons should be ready for training camp with the Nets later this summer. Since he is gearing up to represent his native Australia in international competition, it stands to reason that Simmons should be more than ready to go when September comes around.
