Oregon Ducks head coach Mario Cristobal offered an injury update on two key defensive players on Wednesday afternoon, noting that safety Bennett Williams has a chance to potentially return to the field this season, while linebacker Justin Flowe is likely out until next spring.
Williams suffered a “freak injury” the day before the Stanford game, where he reportedly fractured his fibula in practice on an on-side kick-coverage drill. He has been seen in a walking boot and utilizing a scooter in the weeks since the injury, but recently transitioned to walking with crutches.
As for Flowe, the freshman linebacker suffered a foot injury during the first game of the season, and has been out since then. He also has been seen to transition from a walking boot and a scooter to utilizing crutches around practice.
As the Ducks prepare for bowl season and a potential post-season run, we will wait to see if Williams can make an impactful return to the field.
