Bengals WR Tee Higgins shoots down doubters before big return

Tee Higgins says his absence is strictly related to his health.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins hadn’t heard of any suggestions that his absence was related to his upcoming contract status this summer.

But he didn’t have a problem shooting down that sort of idea, either.

Speaking with reporters on Thursday, Higgins said his absence has been strictly related to the hamstring injury he suffered in practice.

“I haven’t heard that, haven’t seen it,” Higgins said, according to Jay Morrison of Pro Football Network. “I’m pretty sure people have been talking like that, but it’s cool. My health is way more important than the other people who have their opinion on me. But I’m here, and my only thing is I always want to help this team. I’m glad I’m here, and I’m glad I’m healthy.”

The idea Higgins has only played in seven games this year and isn’t rushing back from an injury because of the fact he’s in a contract year has always been nonsense, of course.

Higgins had a fractured rib he couldn’t play through earlier this year and a hamstring injury holding him out multiple games isn’t exactly unusual.

Now, Higgins is set to return, regardless of his contract future, in an effort to help the team win games down the stretch.
