Cincinnati Bengals wide receivers coach Troy Walters has the eye of the Arizona Cardinals.
According to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones, the Cardinals requested permission to interview Walters for their vacant offensive coordinator position.
This news comes right on the heels of Bengals quarterbacks coach Dan Pitcher turning down a look elsewhere in an effort to win a Super Bowl in Cincinnati. It also comes after finalizing the fact both offensive coordinator Brian Callahan and defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo will return.
Walters has been a rising star in league circles and was recently a finalist for the offensive coordinator job in Houston before the Texans went a different route.
For now, the idea the Bengals will retain all of their key assistants is once again on hold.
