The Cincinnati Bengals were ahead of the curve in announcing masks would be a requirement at Paul Brown Stadium in 2020.

The NFL decided to make face coverings a requirement as well Wednesday, announced via Brian McCarthy.

Cincinnati had already announced the masking rule at PBS for 2020 alongside other revelations sent to fans. Those included the banning of tailgating, limiting attendance capacity and social distancing for those fans in the stands, among other details.

Even with McCarthy’s announcement, we don’t fully know what Bengals games at PBS will look like in 2020. Things could change further before the season even starts, especially with the league pulling the plug on preseason games entirely.

The lack of preseason games doesn’t figure to hurt a rookie as talented as Joe Burrow. But the unorthodox nature of games this season — with or without fans in the stands — will make for quite the unique season.
