The Cincinnati Bengals, as expected, will apply the franchise tag to star wide receiver Tee Higgins.
Friday night, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news.
The tag, after Friday’s salary cap news, checks in at roughly $21.8 million. Cincinnati had until March 5 to apply it, and doing so means they have until July 15 to work out a long-term deal with Higgins before he plays the 2024 season on the one-year pact.
This follows on the heels of further confirmation the Bengals will keep attempting to work out a long-term deal with Higgins.
Higgins is the first player tagged now that the window for teams to do so is open.
