The Cincinnati Bengals ran out some interesting looks during the team’s Week 2 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
And on the official snap count numbers, a notable issue popped up — the lack of rotational work on the defensive side of the ball.
Some takeaways from those snap counts:
— There is hardly any rotational help for Trey Hendrickson, B.J. Hill and Sam Hubbard, which is a little surprising given the presence of names like Joseph Ossai and rookie tackle Zach Carter.
— Some of this is due to the matchup. But first-rounder Dax Hill continues to hardly see the field.
— Ditto for running back Chris Evans, who has appeared wildly explosive in the preseason but continues to watch from the sidelines.
— It would appear that right now, extra coverage duties on tight ends go to Tre Flowers, not Hill.
— Tee Higgins went for nearly 90 percent of the snaps after clearing concussion protocols this week.
— The offense experimented with Ja’Marr Chase in the slot, which helped Tyler Boyd see just 81 percent of the snaps.
