The Cincinnati Bengals needed some big games from underrated performers again during the team’s win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 14.

Besides some of those lesser-known names stepping up with big snap counts, it’s all eyes on running back after the return of Joe Mixon.

Some takeaways:

  • — The running back committee might be real. Joe Mixon is back but played just 10 more snaps than Samaje Perine (39-29). Mixon played 58 percent, Perine 43 percent. Mixon finished with 14 carries for 96 yards on a 6.9 average, Perine had four carries for 22 yards and a score.
  • — Typically, Mixon handles more across the board. But this is a savvy way to keep both guys fresh for the rest of the season, plus playoffs. It’s safe to expect it to continue.
  • — Trenton Irwin played 84 percent of the snaps with Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd out and again made some key plays. He’ll play just as much in the coming weeks with Boyd out. Trent Taylor had to step in for 78 percent.
  • — Mitchell Wilcox took 79 percent of the snaps with Hayden Hurst out at tight end.
  • — Trayveon Williams got the nod over the inactive Chris Evans and saw two snaps.
  • — Rookie Cam Taylor-Britt was one of four defenders to play 100 percent of the snaps, making key stops in the process.
  • — Trey Hendrickson played 76 percent, somehow returning and playing with a broken wrist.
