The Week 4 loss to the Tennessee Titans was one to forget for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Still, one can look at resources from that game such as snap counts to get a better idea of where the team might be able to improve or give more chances to deserving players.
Here are a few quick observations from the snap counts.
- Joe Mixon being on the field for 79 percent of the offensive snaps but getting just 14 carries and one target is weird, especially with rookie Chase Brown getting just one snap all game.
- Tee Higgins played just 51 percent of the snaps before his injury, with Trenton Irwin then getting 42 percent and rookie Andrei Iosivas getting 19 percent. With rookie Charlie Jones out, it will keep looking like this if Higgins can’t play through his injury.
- Tight end Tanner Hudson took 43 percent of the snaps after being called up from the practice squad. Drew Sample got 32 percent, which might uptick if they switch to more of a run-first attack.
- Corner Chidobe Awuzie took 85 percent of the snaps, a continued escalation as he works back after the injury from last year. Cam Taylor-Britt had 56 percent before his injury.
- Rookie end Myles Murphy had 29 snaps, including his first NFL sack.
- Joseph Ossai only played five snaps in his second game back from injury.
