Cincinnati Bengals rookie cornerback DJ Turner returned to practice on Wednesday after missing a brief period of time coming out of the team’s second preseason game.
Turner, a second-round pick this year, has exceeded expectations quite a bit as a general consensus.
Take, for example, his sticky coverage on Ja’Marr Chase last week.
Tuner isn’t projected to be a starter as a rookie with Chidobe Awuzie, Cam Taylor-Britt and Mike Hilton holding down the starting three spots.
But he’s in the mix for immediate snaps in the rotation and the fact he’s been able to put together an almost complete camp with quality showings — against this trio of Bengals wideouts, no less — is a great sign he can live up to some of the expectations that he’ll be a long-term solution alongside Cam Taylor-Britt.
