Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is no stranger to seeing his name come up in lofty comparisons.
But before his Bengals take on the Cleveland Browns in Week 7, Burrow received some of the biggest possible praise from the opposition.
Speaking with reporters this week, Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz said that when he watches Burrow this year, he’s reminded of Peyton and Eli Manning, according to Scott Petrak of the Chronicle-Telegram.
Burrow has always fired the ball out fast. What’s notable from Schwartz’s presser is in relation to this — he mentions that in past years, Burrow would try to play hero ball and take a ton of sacks and hits.
Now, that part of Burrow’s game is gone and/or evolved into something better, at least in the mind of one high-profile coordinator — who would know better than most.
Burrow will need to make good on this analysis from the opponent over the weekend if the Bengals are to improve on the 2-4 record and pick up a key AFC North win. Getting the ball out fast after reading things at the line will be a must with pass-rushers like Myles Garrett ready to tee off on a Bengals line that struggled last week against the New York Giants.
