The Cincinnati Bengals are one of the NFL teams prepping to reopen next week amid the coronavirus pandemic.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell issued a memo to all 32 teams Friday permitting the reopening of team facilities in adherence with rules set by local authorities.
The Bengals are one of roughly 20 teams permitted to reopen due to Ohio’s current regulations.
Teams reopening as early as May 19 must also adhere to NFL guidelines. No coaches are permitted, only players rehabbing are permitted and only 75 personnel (50 percent) are permitted at any one time.
The Bengals don’t have a set date for the reopening yet and realistically, this doesn’t change much for how the team has conducted recent meets while installing playbooks and generally just trying to get everyone on the same page virtually.
What the reopening does do is shine a light on a potential reality for the NFL this fall — teams in some states are permitted to open and teams in some states are not. For now, the Bengals fall in the former and this is how the NFL has chosen to tackle the ongoing realities of world events.
